In this time of cataclysm and change, the weavings of soul and the strands of a woman’s life remain essential for wellbeing, even as they must be experienced apart from one another and within separate boundaries of place. Indeed, the crises all around us can be understood as a full-throated call to discover the deep resources of the soul and the hidden possibilities for healing, both personal and universal, in each of us.
We have found a way to offer our annual women’s retreat “Restorying the Heroine’s Journey” online. We have plumbed the essence of this retreat held at Rolling Ridge and have revisioned its fabric for this moment, when for the sake of our human and Earth family we must connect virtually rather than face to face.
The retreat, this year called “Root and Fire: Restorying the Heroine’s Journey”, is woven with videos that capture the beauty and mystery of the forest at Rolling Ridge and tap the power of ritual and storytelling, drumming, chant, and movement. It is filled with poetry. It asks beautiful, insistent questions and draws from ancient wisdom.
Just as it did in pre-pandemic times, the retreat will happen over a span of three days and two nights; and just as before, it is an invitation to set aside customary routines and habits and dedicate oneself to the soul journey for a sanctified time. It will require an open heart and a wild imagination: a willingness to find within one’s separate, cloistered, socially distant space both denizens of the animate Earth and a felt sense of communion with sisters taking this retreat who are miles away, and with a myriad of other beings far from our ken.
Register for one of two date options, one a weekend, one during the week. Each date includes an optional (but strongly encouraged) gathering on Zoom on the evening before (Thursday or Monday).
We recognize this is a time of economic uncertainty for many.
